Annmarie Stanesa
Jewelry and Glass Sculpture

Annmarie Stanesa's Biography  AAa

As a kid, I always had an artistic eye, drawing, painting and creating whenever I could. High school art teachers gave me opportunities to paint a mural in the school stairway and be published in the schools yearly art magazine “Xenolith”. I ended up working in the corporate world for 20 years before I discovered what I was missing. I love working with colors and the glass is incredibly giving of many different styles and methods. It truly is a remarkable medium. In 2007, my passion was ignited after I enrolled in a Lampworking course taught by a published artist I had noticed in a beading book. Melting and sculpting hot glass using a torch and tools to create small sculptures got me hooked!

Fundamentally, I believe that art should make people smile, think and enjoy, but not necessarily in that order. Art can be elegant, without being stuffy. My work is inspired greatly by people I know and meet. Often they will ask if I have made or could make a….??? That was how my custom pet sculpture beads began. Now clients send me a picture of their pet, and I recreate it in a glass bead.

Most of the Lampwork beads that I make are one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces from “life like” dogs and panda bears to flowers, cartoon characters, Sweetie Skulls and organics.  I never duplicate a sculpture bead as each inspiration is unique, and keeping each piece as an original is important aspect of my art. My clients know they are getting something of quality that is special and handmade and very often, just for them.

I have participated in several art shows including recent shows like the 2011 Brighton Fine Art Fair and Great Lakes Art Festival. I’ve been fortunate to place 2nd in the Delphi Spring Art Glass Festival in the jewelry category for both 2010 and 2011. I’ve also had the pleasure of being co-creator/painter for the 2011 MI Apple Trail Apple representing the Novi Farmers Market, the Detroit Eastern Market and the Michigan Apple Council.

You can find my work at the AuSable Artisan Village in Grayling, MI and at the Great Lakes Artisan Village in downtown Holly, MI as well as on my website www.stanesaglass.com.

In addition to art, I also have a passion for community service and belong to several service organizations including Livingston Sunrise Rotary, devoted to youth programs and the local food bank, the Brighton Art Guild, and ArtsNovi, all groups dedicated to promoting good will, and helping others in the communities surrounding South East Michigan as well as globally. I’m blessed to be able to play such an active role in these organizations and that a career as an artist provides the freedom to do so.

I’d love to connect with all my customers on Facebook at www.stanesaglass.com/facebook and learn what creativity lies inside of you….
