Patricia K. Burns-Riegle's Biography
A native of Michigan, I have always been drawn to the arts, but only began pursuing my passion seriously the past few years. I would be classified as a ‘self-taught’ artist with art galleries and museums as my main source of education. Viewing the works of old masters and contemporary artists has always been my inspiration and under- standing of styles, techniques, composition and subject matter to become a better artist.
Working with amateur and professional artists from various art organizations and galleries, encourages and ignites my passion of becoming a serious artist.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I would classify myself as a photo-realist. This allows me to showcase my technical skills while entertaining the viewer with my view of the world. Often nature and human activity are my subject matters as I define the colors and shapes I see. I allow the subject matter to dictate the medium that I use since I am comfortable using a wide variety of painting and drawing mediums. Many of my works are from my personal photo reference.
My goal as an artist is to create works of art with “movement and emotion” which can be appreciated by people from all walks of life. An Artist gives a part of them self with each original they create and sell. I hope the Purchasers of my Art work will ultimately share this feeling.
EXHIBITS/PUBLICATIONS
My work has been shown in several juried art exhibitions including, the West Branch Heritage Art Show, Gaylord Area Council for the Arts Annual Exhibition, Saginaw Township Arts in Public Places Art Exhibit, University of Michigan – Dearborn Campus Art Exhibition, Besser Museum Northeast Juried Art Exhibition in Alpena Michigan, Midland Artist Guild Show, Gladwin Area Artists Guild Fall Exhibition and most recently the Annual Greater Michigan Art Exhibition at the Dow Museum of Science & Art. Several of my works have earned awards.
As one juror stated, “Patricia Riegle brought us realism with a twist of color and motion for us to appreciate.”
