Ken Kueffner
Artist's Statement
My earliest memories include spending as much time outdoors as I could and making art. I have been fortunate that I have been able to pursue a career that included teaching and creating art.
Through the years, I continue to create art that reflects my interests and travels. Each piece is a personal story of a moment in time or place that interests me. I attempt to weave together images and colors that convey a mood to the viewer. As always, the natural world continues to be a major influence in the work I create.
Ken is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he studied sculpture as he completed his Bachelor's degree in Art Education, and followed with a Master's degree in Art Education. It was during his work on his MA that he found a passion for drawing and painting that continues to this day.
He taught for 34 years at Caro High School, where his art and photography students achieved a remarkable record of accomplishment in the visual arts. Many of his students went on to their own careers in the arts. Twice nominated as Michigan's Art teacher of the Year, Ken retired from teaching to pursue a lifelong dream as a working artist. He has a studio in his home in Caro, Michigan and can be found on the web at kenkueffnerstudio.com.
